SEGMENT INFORMATION SEGMENT INFORMATION
As described in Note 1, Description of Business and Basis of Presentation, we operate as one reportable segment. John A. Smith, President and Chief Executive Officer of FedEx Freight, is our CODM and utilizes net income as the primary measure of segment performance because it reflects the underlying business performance and provides a basis for making resource allocation decisions. Our CODM utilizes net income in the annual budget and monthly forecasting processes, and considers forecast-to-actual variances on a monthly basis, when making resource allocation decisions. Our CODM regularly reviews significant expense details, which include salaries and employee benefits, operating supplies and expenses, purchased transportation, depreciation and amortization, insurance and claims, operating taxes and licenses, separation and other costs, total other (income) expense, and provision for income taxes. These expense categories are presented in the accompanying Condensed Consolidated Statements of Income and are used by our CODM in assessing performance and allocating resources.
