| INCOME TAXES | INCOME TAXES: The effective tax rates for the three and nine months ended September 30, 2026 were 24.6% and 19.0%, respectively. The effective tax rates for the three and nine months ended September 30, 2025 were 23.9% and 24.5%, respectively. The effective tax rate for the three and nine months ended September 30, 2026 and 2025 differs from the U.S. federal statutory rate of 21% primarily due to the impact of federal tax credits, equity compensation, and state taxes. The Company previously recognized income tax benefits related to certain federal tax credits as a reduction of income tax expense. On July 1, 2026, the Company monetized these credits through a sale to a third party for approximately $30,000, net of transaction costs. The proceeds approximated the carrying amount of the credits and, accordingly, the sale did not result in a material additional income tax benefit. The total amount of uncertain tax positions at September 30, 2026 and December 31, 2025 was $144,672 and $129,034, respectively. If these uncertain tax positions were recognized, approximately $144,672 and $129,034 would affect CNX's effective tax rate at September 30, 2026 and December 31, 2025, respectively. In 2026, CNX recognized an increase in unrecognized tax benefits of $15,638 for tax benefits resulting from tax positions anticipated to be claimed on our 2026 federal income tax return for additional federal tax credits. CNX recognizes accrued interest and penalties related to uncertain tax positions in interest expense and income tax expense, respectively. As of September 30, 2026 and December 31, 2025, CNX had no accrued liabilities for interest and penalties related to uncertain tax positions. CNX and its subsidiaries file federal income tax returns with the United States and tax returns within various states. With few exceptions, the Company is no longer subject to United States federal, state, local, or non-U.S. income tax examinations by tax authorities for the years before 2022.
