Expense Narrative [Text Block] The following table describes the fees and expenses that may be incurred when you buy, hold, and sell shares of the fund. You may pay other fees, such as brokerage commissions and other fees to financial intermediaries, which are not reflected in the tables and examples below.

Portfolio Turnover [Heading] Portfolio Turnover
Portfolio Turnover [Text Block] The fund pays transaction costs, such as commissions, when it buys and sells securities (or "turns over" its portfolio). A higher portfolio turnover rate may indicate higher transaction costs and may result in higher taxes when fund shares are held in a taxable account. These costs, which are not reflected in annual operating expenses or in the example, affect the fund's performance. During the most recent fiscal year, the fund's portfolio turnover rate was 99 % of the average value of its portfolio.
Portfolio Turnover, Rate 99.00%
Expense Example Narrative [Text Block] This example helps compare the cost of investing in the fund with the cost of investing in other funds. Let's say, hypothetically, that the annual return for shares of the fund is 5% and that the fees and the annual operating expenses for shares of the fund are exactly as described in the fee table. This example illustrates the effect of fees and expenses, but is not meant to suggest actual or expected fees and expenses or returns, all of which may vary. For every $10,000 you invested, here's how much you would pay in total expenses if you sell all of your shares at the end of each time period indicated:
Strategy [Heading] Principal Investment Strategies
Strategy Narrative [Text Block] Normally investing at least 80% of assets in debt securities rated below investment grade (also referred to as high yield debt securities or junk bonds) that Fidelity Management & Research Company LLC (FMR or Adviser) believes have positive environmental, social and governance (ESG) characteristics. Debt securities are used by issuers to borrow money. The issuer usually pays a fixed, variable, or floating rate of interest, and must repay the amount borrowed, usually at the maturity of the security. Debt securities include corporate bonds, government securities (including Treasury securities), repurchase agreements, money market securities, mortgage and other asset-backed securities, loans and loan participations, and other securities, such as hybrids and synthetic securities, believed to have debt-like characteristics (e.g., securities classified as Tier 2 Regulatory capital, securities that rank above share capital in an insolvency waterfall, securities with maturity dates and non-cancellable interest payment structures).  Below investment grade debt securities are debt securities that are rated below BBB- or its equivalent by at least one nationally recognized statistical ratings organization (NRSRO), or, if unrated, determined by the Adviser to be of comparable quality. Derivative instruments that provide investment exposure to the investments above or exposure to one or more market risk factors associated with such investments are included in the fund's 80% policy, consistent with the fund's investment policies and limitations with respect to investments in derivatives. When assessing the ESG characteristics of a security, the Adviser considers the following, where available: (i) the sustainability practices of the security's issuer or sponsor, as applicable (each, an "issuer"), based on an evaluation of such issuer's individual ESG profile; (ii) ESG factors related to the security's underlying pool of assets; and (iii) any third-party designation as a green, sustainable or sustainability-linked bond. A security's positive ESG characteristics can be determined under any of those three factors. Using the Adviser's proprietary ESG rating process to evaluate an issuer's sustainability practices using a data-driven framework that includes both proprietary and third-party data, and may also involve a qualitative assessment of an issuer's sustainability practices provided by the Adviser's research team. The Adviser's ESG rating of issuers are derived from multiple factors, including an issuer's environmental profile, which may include, but is not limited to, carbon and toxic emissions, water management, waste management, vulnerability to the physical impacts of climate change, and research and investment into products, services, and energies that reduce emissions and/or provide opportunities to transition to less carbon-intensive products or operations. An assessment of an issuer's social profile includes, but is not limited to, its approach to diversity and inclusion, human capital management, data privacy, product safety and human rights. With respect to governance, the independence and diversity of an issuer's board, its compensation practices and board oversight of critical ESG issues are considered as part of the assessment. These factors are weighted based on how material the Adviser believes each factor is to an issuer's financial outlook, and not all factors may be applicable to all issuers. Issuers with an above average ESG rating as determined by the Adviser are considered to have positive ESG characteristics and well-managed ESG risks. Investing in issuers that FMR believes deliver tangible environmental or social impact through core business operations. An assessment of the impact characteristics of an issuer may involve corporate engagement and an analysis of issuer alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals using qualitative analysis as well as proprietary or third-party data. For example, issuers that provide access to clean water, education, or clean energy through their core business may be considered to deliver tangible impact. When evaluating securitized debt securities (including mortgage-backed securities, commercial mortgage-backed securities, and other asset-backed securities), generally considering the issuer's ESG rating along with ESG factors related to the underlying pool of assets, such as energy efficiency and environmental impact of the underlying assets; providing access to affordable housing or opportunities for first time home ownership; and compliance with fair lending laws. Using the ICE® BofA® US High Yield Constrained Index as a guide in structuring the fund and selecting its investments as it relates to credit quality distribution and risk characteristics. Potentially investing in securities that have a higher credit quality than securities in the index. Investing in companies in troubled or uncertain financial condition. Investing in domestic and foreign issuers. In addition to the ESG rating process, using a proprietary multifactor quantitative model and fundamental analysis to screen over 1,000 bonds. The multifactor quantitative model uses a value and quality factor-based methodology to identify bonds with strong return potential and low probability of default. FMR also uses fundamental analysis of factors such as each issuer's financial condition and industry position, as well as economic and market conditions, to select investments. Employing sustainable investing exclusion criteria to avoid investments in issuers that are directly engaged in, and/or derive significant revenue from, certain industries. Please see "Fund Basics - Investment Details - Sustainable Investing Exclusions" for additional information.

These costs, which are not reflected in annual operating expenses or in the example, affect the fund's performance. During the most recent fiscal year, the fund's portfolio turnover rate was 19 % of the average value of its portfolio.

This example illustrates the effect of fees and expenses, but is not meant to suggest actual or expected fees and expenses or returns, all of which may vary. For every $10,000 you invested, here's how much you would pay in total expenses if you sell all of your shares at the end of each time period indicated:

Strategy Narrative [Text Block] Normally investing at least 80% of assets in securities of issuers and in depositary receipts representing securities of issuers in emerging markets and other investments that are tied economically to emerging markets. Emerging markets include countries that have an emerging stock market as defined by MSCI, countries or markets with low- to middle-income economies as classified by the World Bank, and other countries or markets that the Adviser identifies as having similar emerging markets characteristics. The Adviser considers a number of factors to determine whether an issuer is located in or tied economically to a particular country or region including: whether a third-party vendor has assigned a particular country or region classification to the issuer or included the issuer in an index representative of a particular country or region; the issuer's domicile, incorporation, and location of assets; whether the issuer derives at least 50% of its revenues from, or has at least 50% of its assets in, a particular country or region; the source of government guarantees (if any); and the primary trading market or listing exchange. Whether an issuer is located in or tied economically to a particular country can be determined under any of these factors. Derivative instruments that provide investment exposure to the investments above or exposure to one or more market risk factors associated with such investments are included in the fund's 80% policy, consistent with the fund's investment policies and limitations with respect to investments in derivatives. Normally investing primarily in common stocks.Allocating investments across different emerging markets countries.Generally utilizing a research-driven approach identifying long-term drivers of stock returns that may include, but are not limited to, valuation, growth, quality, and other factors.  The research is systematically applied alongside a proprietary portfolio construction and risk management framework to select a broadly diversified group of stocks that may have the potential to provide a higher total return than that of the MSCI Emerging Markets Index.

For the period from February 10, 2026 to August 31, 2026, the fund's portfolio turnover rate was 46 % (annualized) of the average value of its portfolio.

Strategy Narrative [Text Block] Normally investing at least 80% of assets in collateralized loan obligations (CLOs). CLOs are a type of asset-backed security. A CLO is typically collateralized by a pool of loans, which may include domestic and foreign senior secured loans, senior unsecured loans, and subordinate corporate loans, including loans that may be rated below investment grade or equivalent unrated loans, and including "covenant lite" loans, which have few or no financial maintenance covenants. CLOs may charge management fees and other expenses. Cash flows from the CLO are split into two or more portions, called tranches, which can vary in risk and yield. A CLO's more senior tranches are partially protected from defaults, typically have higher ratings and lower yields than their underlying securities and can be rated investment grade. More junior tranches offer the potential for higher yield but are more exposed to loss and have lower ratings. Derivative instruments that provide investment exposure to the investments above or exposure to one or more market risk factors associated with such investments are included in the fund's 80% policy, consistent with the fund's investment policies and limitations with respect to investments in derivatives. Investing a majority of the fund's assets in CLOs rated from BBB+ to B- or the equivalent by at least one nationally recognized statistical ratings organization (NRSRO), or, if unrated, determined by the Adviser to be of comparable quality. Investing up to 30% of the fund's assets in CLOs rated above BBB+. Purchasing CLOs in both the primary market and the secondary market. Investing no more than 10% of assets in fixed-rate CLOs. Investing up to 25% in non-U.S. dollar-denominated CLOs and, from time to time, hedging the fund's foreign currency exposures utilizing forward foreign currency exchange contracts. Investing in cash or other short-term instruments, such as money market instruments or money market funds, while seeking to deploy new capital, or for liquidity management purposes, managing redemptions, or for defensive purposes, including navigating unusual market conditions. Investing up to 20% of the fund's net assets in securities that have a leveraging effect on the fund, including investments in derivatives - such as swaps (interest rate, total return, and credit default), options, and futures contracts - to adjust the fund's risk exposure - as well as forward foreign currency exchange contracts for both hedging and non-hedging purposes.

Strategy Narrative [Text Block] Normally investing at least 80% of assets in securities included in the Fidelity Clean Energy IndexSM and in depositary receipts representing securities included in the index. The Fidelity Clean Energy Index SM  is designed to reflect the performance of a global universe of companies across the market capitalization spectrum that distribute, produce or provide technology or equipment to support the production of energy from solar, wind, hydrogen and other renewable sources. The Fidelity Clean Energy Index SM is constructed using Fidelity's rules-based proprietary index methodology. The index methodology identifies and ranks stocks for inclusion in the index based on company revenues and proprietary natural language processing (NLP) scores. Stocks of companies are first selected based on market share and revenues tied to one or a combination of the following designated business activity categories, subject to thematic quality screens: clean energy production and distribution and clean energy technology manufacturing. After initial screens are applied, stocks are selected for inclusion in the index based on market share ranked by dollar revenue and a thematic relevancy score derived from a combination of revenue related to designated business activities and NLP scores. NLP is used to analyze text-based documents to identify companies with relevant keywords. Stocks of companies with greater than 50% of their total revenue from one or a combination of designated business activities or at least 5% market share (based on total revenues in designated business activities) will comprise 85% or more of the index. Stocks not meeting these criteria may also be included in the index but are generally capped at lower weights. Each stock is weighted by adjusted market capitalization and capped under the methodology. Derivative instruments that provide investment exposure to the investments above or exposure to one or more market risk factors associated with such investments are included in the fund's 80% policy, consistent with the fund's investment policies and limitations with respect to investments in derivatives. Expense Heading [Optional Text] Fee Table

You may pay other fees, such as brokerage commissions and other fees to financial intermediaries, which are not reflected in the tables and examples below.

During the most recent fiscal year, the fund's portfolio turnover rate was 59 % of the average value of its portfolio.
Portfolio Turnover, Rate 59.00%
Strategy Narrative [Text Block] Normally investing at least 80% of assets in equity securities included in the Fidelity Crypto Industry and Digital Payments IndexSM and in depositary receipts representing securities included in the index. The Fidelity Crypto Industry and Digital Payments Index SM is designed to reflect the performance of a global universe of companies engaged in activities related to cryptocurrency, related blockchain technology, and digital payments processing.    Cryptocurrency companies include those involved in cryptocurrency mining or provide financial services to support cryptocurrency issued on a blockchain such as custody, trading, asset management and other services.  Blockchain technology companies include those that distribute or manufacture infrastructure, hardware or software that supports cryptocurrency mining activities and/or the encryption and integrity of cryptocurrency. Digital payments processing companies include those that facilitate payment activities through processes and protocols such as Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT), including Automated Clearing House (ACH), and other traditional payment information services. The fund will not invest in digital assets (including cryptocurrencies) directly, or indirectly through the use of digital asset derivatives. The fund also will not invest in initial coin offerings. Therefore, the fund is not expected to track the price movement of any digital asset. The fund may, however, have indirect exposure to digital assets by virtue of its investments in cryptocurrency companies that use one or more digital assets as part of their business activities or that hold digital assets as proprietary investments. The Fidelity Crypto Industry and Digital Payments Index SM is constructed using Fidelity's rules-based proprietary index methodology. The index methodology identifies and ranks stocks for inclusion in the index based on company revenues and proprietary natural language processing (NLP) scores. Stocks of cryptocurrency companies and blockchain technology companies are first selected based on market share.  Stocks included in the index are selected based on revenues tied to one or a combination of the following designated business activity categories: cryptocurrency mining, crypto-related financial services, related blockchain technologies, and digital payments processing. After initial screens are applied, stocks of cryptocurrency companies and blockchain technology companies are selected for inclusion in the index based on market share ranked by dollar revenue and thematic relevancy scores, and stocks of digital payments processing companies are selected for inclusion in the index based on revenues ranked by average daily volumes. Thematic relevancy scores are derived from a combination of revenue related to designated business activities and NLP scores. NLP is used to analyze text-based documents to identify companies with relevant keywords. Stocks of companies with greater than 50% of their total revenue tied to one or a combination of designated business activities or at least 5% market share (based on total revenues in designated business activities) will comprise 85% or more of the index. Stocks not meeting this criteria may also be included in the index but are generally capped at lower weights. Each stock is weighted based on modified average daily volume metrics subject to caps. Derivative instruments that provide investment exposure to the investments above or exposure to one or more market risk factors associated with such investments are included in the fund's 80% policy, consistent with the fund's investment policies and limitations with respect to investments in derivatives. Primarily using replication; however, the fund may or may not hold all of the securities in the index.

Risk/Return [Heading] Fund Summary Fund: Fidelity® Metaverse ETF
Objective [Heading] Investment Objective
Objective, Primary [Text Block] Fidelity® Metaverse ETF seeks to provide investment returns that correspond, before fees and expenses, generally to the performance of the Fidelity Metaverse Index ℠ .
Expense Heading [Optional Text] Fee Table
Expense Narrative [Text Block] The following table describes the fees and expenses that may be incurred when you buy, hold, and sell shares of the fund. You may pay other fees, such as brokerage commissions and other fees to financial intermediaries, which are not reflected in the tables and examples below.
Shareholder Fees Caption [Optional Text] Shareholder fees

Operating Expenses Caption [Optional Text] Annual Operating Expenses
Portfolio Turnover [Heading] Portfolio Turnover
Portfolio Turnover [Text Block] The fund pays transaction costs, such as commissions, when it buys and sells securities (or "turns over" its portfolio). A higher portfolio turnover rate may indicate higher transaction costs and may result in higher taxes when fund shares are held in a taxable account. These costs, which are not reflected in annual operating expenses or in the example, affect the fund's performance. During the most recent fiscal year, the fund's portfolio turnover rate was 33 % of the average value of its portfolio.
Portfolio Turnover, Rate 33.00%
Strategy Narrative [Text Block] Normally investing at least 80% of assets in securities included in the Fidelity Metaverse IndexSM and in depositary receipts representing securities included in the index. "Metaverse" is a term used to describe a future state of the internet characterized by a network of both augmented reality and virtual worlds that can be experienced persistently and in a shared environment by large numbers of users. The Fidelity Metaverse Index SM is designed to reflect the performance of a global universe of companies that develop, manufacture, distribute, or sell products or services related to establishing and enabling the Metaverse. The Fidelity Metaverse Index SM is constructed using Fidelity's rules-based proprietary index methodology. The index methodology identifies and ranks stocks for inclusion in the index based on company revenues and proprietary natural language processing (NLP) scores. Stocks of companies are first selected based on market share and revenues tied to one or a combination of the following designated business activity categories, subject to thematic quality screens: computing hardware and components, digital infrastructure, design and engineering software, gaming technology and software, web development and content services, and smart phone and wearable technology.
