Material Fund Change [Text Block]
This is a summary of certain changes to the Fund since August 31, 2025. For more complete information, you may review the Fund’s next prospectus, which we expect to be available by January 1, 2027 at www.eatonvance.com/open-end-mutual-fund-documents.php or upon request by contacting us at 1-800-262-1122. The net expense ratio decreased from the prior fiscal year primarily because the reduction in the investment adviser and administration fee and the agreement to reimburse the Fund’s expenses, both effective August 18, 2025, were in effect throughout the current fiscal year. The decrease also reflected a reduction in the investment adviser and administration fee due to the Fund’s investments in affiliated funds.

Material Fund Change Expenses [Text Block]
The net expense ratio decreased from the prior fiscal year primarily because the reduction in the investment adviser and administration fee and the agreement to reimburse the Fund’s expenses, both effective August 18, 2025, were in effect throughout the current fiscal year. The decrease also reflected a reduction in the investment adviser and administration fee due to the Fund’s investments in affiliated funds.

| Material Fund Change [Text Block] |

Factors Affecting Performance [Text Block]
How did the Fund perform last year and what affected its performance?Key contributors to (↑) and detractors from (↓) performance, relative to the MSCI China Index (the Index): ↑ An overweight position in global semiconductor equipment maker NAURA Technology helped as the stock gained from ongoing semiconductor production localization ↑ An overweight position in China Construction Bank helped as net interest margin stabilized and state-owned enterprise bank re-rating strengthened capital base ↑ An out-of-index position in Shanghai Xizhi Technology helped as shares rallied from the initial public offering price on the AI optical-interconnect theme. The position was sold by the end of the period ↑ On a sector basis, stock selection in information technology and health care helped performance ↓ Overweight positions in Alibaba and Tencent Holdings detracted as stocks fell sharply amid a broad selloff in Chinese internet and communication services names ↓ No holdings in Bank of China Ltd. detracted as the stock rose amid demand for high-dividend-yielding financials as investors sought portfolio diversification ↓ On a sector basis, stock selection in consumer discretionary, an underweight to materials and an overweight to communication services hurt returns
