| ACQUISITIONS, GOODWILL AND OTHER INTANGIBLE ASSETS | ACQUISITIONS, GOODWILL AND OTHER INTANGIBLE ASSETS. During the third quarter of 2026, GE Aerospace signed an agreement to acquire Consolidated Precision Products (CPP), a leading manufacturer of highly engineered castings and sub-assemblies primarily for the commercial aerospace and defense markets, with a purchase price of $11.75 billion. We plan to fund the acquisition with approximately $7 billion in cash and the remainder in new debt. This transaction is expected to close in the second half of 2027 and will be subject to regulatory approvals and other customary closing conditions.
(a) Goodwill adjustments are primarily related to foreign currency exchange. We assess the possibility that a reporting unit’s fair value has been reduced below its carrying amount due to the occurrence of events or circumstances between annual impairment testing dates. In the third quarter of 2026, we did not identify any reporting units that required an interim impairment test. Other intangible assets decreased $196 million during the nine months ended September 30, 2026, primarily as a result of amortization and foreign currency exchange, partially offset by additions. Consolidated amortization expense was $109 million and $88 million in the three months ended September 30, 2026 and 2025, respectively, and $282 million and $270 million in the nine months ended September 30, 2026 and 2025, respectively.
