Note 8. Income Taxes
Effective Tax Rate
During the three- and six-month periods ended August 1, 2026, the provision for income taxes was $1.4 million and $1.8 million, respectively. During the three- and six-month periods ended August 2, 2025, the provision for income taxes was $0.5 million and $3.1 million, respectively. The effective tax rates for the three- and six-month periods ended August 1, 2026 were 21.0% and 24.7%, respectively. The effective tax rates for the three- and six-month periods ended August 2, 2025 were 23.7% and 29.4%, respectively. The decrease in the effective tax rate for the three-month period ended August 1, 2026 as compared to the three-month period ended August 2, 2025 was primarily due to the discrete recognition of refunds of previously paid IEEPA tariffs (as described in “Note 9—Commitments and Contingencies”), partially offset by a decrease in the amount of non-deductible compensation for covered employees relative to income before income taxes for the three-month period ended August 1, 2026. The decrease in the effective tax rate for the six-month period ended August 1, 2026 as compared to the six-month period ended August 2, 2025 was primarily due to the discrete recognition of refunds of previously paid IEEPA tariffs for the six-month period ended August 1, 2026.
