| INCOME TAXES | (7) INCOME TAXES The effective tax rate was 28.1% and 21.2% for the third quarter of 2026 and 2025, respectively, and 24.8% and 18.7% for the nine months ended August 2, 2026, and July 27, 2025, respectively. The increase in the 2026 effective tax rates was primarily due to unfavorable discrete items in the three months and nine months ended August 2, 2026, and favorable discrete items in the nine months ended July 27, 2025 (see Note 22 for prior period special tax items). |
