The tax provision for interim periods is determined using an estimated annual effective tax rate, calculated based on six months actual results and forecasted results for the remainder of the year, adjusted for the tax effects of discrete items recognized during the period.
The annualized effective tax rates for the three and six months ended June 30, 2026 were 38.0% and 21.8%, respectively. The effective rates for the three and six months ended June 30, 2026 differed from the U.S. federal statutory rate of 21.0% primarily due to the excess tax benefit recognized on settlement of employee share-based awards, research and development credits, and state, local and foreign taxes, partially offset by executive compensation limitations and other non-deductible expenses.
