Cash and Due from Banks Note 3.    Cash and Due from Banks.
Cash on hand, cash items in the process of collection, and amounts due from correspondent banks and the Federal Reserve Banks are
recorded as cash and cash equivalent in the Statements of Cash Flows. The FHLBNY is exempt from maintaining any required
clearing balance at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York.
Compensating Balances
The FHLBNY has made arrangements with Citibank (a member/stockholder of the FHLBNY) to maintain compensating collected
cash balances. There are no restrictions on the withdrawal of funds in this arrangement. The compensating balances were $30.0
million at June 30, 2026 and $5.0 million at December 31, 2025. There were no restricted cash balances at June 30, 2026 and
December 31, 2025.
Pass-through Deposit Reserves
The FHLBNY acts as a pass-through correspondent for member institutions who are required by banking regulations to deposit
reserves with the Federal Reserve Banks. There were no pass-through reserves deposited with Federal Reserve Banks on behalf of
the members by the FHLBNY at June 30, 2026 and December 31, 2025, respectively.
