| EARNINGS PER COMMON SHARE | We compute basic and diluted earnings per common share by dividing net earnings by the respective weighted average number of common shares outstanding for the periods presented. Our calculation of diluted earnings per common share also includes the dilutive effects for the assumed vesting of outstanding restricted stock units (RSUs) and performance stock units (PSUs) based on the treasury stock method. There were no significant anti-dilutive equity awards during the quarters and six months ended June 28, 2026 and June 29, 2025. Basic and diluted weighted average common shares outstanding decreased in 2026 compared to 2025 due to share repurchases in the second half of 2025, but none during the quarter and six months ended June 28, 2026. |
| RECENT ACCOUNTING PRONOUNCEMENTS | In September 2025, the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) issued Accounting Standards Update (ASU) No. 2025-06, Intangibles – Goodwill and Other – Internal-Use Software (Subtopic 350-40): Targeted Improvements to the Accounting for Internal-Use Software. This guidance removes all references to project stages throughout FASB Accounting Standards Codification (ASC) Subtopic 350-40, Internal-Use Software and clarifies the threshold entities apply to begin capitalizing costs. Under the new standard, cost capitalization should only commence when an entity has committed to funding a software project and it is probable the project will be completed and the software will be used for its intended function. The amendments are effective for annual and interim reporting periods beginning January 1, 2028. Entities may apply the guidance using a prospective, retrospective or modified transition approach. Early adoption is permitted as of the beginning of an annual reporting period. We will adopt the ASU on its effective date of January 1, 2028. In November 2024, the FASB issued ASU No. 2024-03, Income Statement – Reporting Comprehensive Income – Expense Disaggregation Disclosures (Subtopic 220-40): Disaggregation of Income Statement Expenses. The ASU requires entities to disclose certain expenses, including purchases of inventory, employee compensation, depreciation, and intangible asset amortization, by caption. In addition, entities must provide a qualitative description of the amounts remaining in relevant expense captions that are not separately disaggregated quantitatively. The amendments are effective for annual reporting periods beginning January 1, 2027, and for interim reporting periods beginning after January 1, 2028. We are evaluating the impact of this ASU and expect the standard will only affect our disclosures and will not impact our results of operations or financial condition.
