| Segment Information | Segment Information The chief operating decision maker for the Company is the Chief Executive Officer. The Company’s Chief Executive Officer reviews financial information presented on a consolidated basis, accompanied by information about revenue by geographic region, for purposes of allocating resources and evaluating financial performance. The Company has one business activity and there are no segment managers who are held accountable for operations, operating results or plans for levels or components below the consolidated unit level. Accordingly, the Company has determined that it has a single reportable and operating segment structure. The Company’s Chief Executive Officer evaluates performance based primarily on revenue in the geographic locations in which the Company operates. Revenue by geographic area is based on the billing address of the customer. The following table sets forth our revenue by geographic area (in thousands):
The CODM also utilizes the Company’s long-range plan as a key input for resource allocation. The CODM makes decisions on resource allocation, assesses performance of the business, and monitors budget versus actual results using consolidated net loss. Significant expenses within consolidated net loss include cost of goods sold, research and development, and selling, general and administrative expenses, which are each separately presented on the Company’s Consolidated Statements of Operations and Comprehensive Loss. In addition, the CODM is provided with the stock-based compensation expense included in research and development expenses and selling, general and administrative expenses. See FN 10, “Stockholders’ Equity” for more information. Other segment items included in consolidated net loss are interest income, interest expense, and other income, net, and income tax expense. Long-lived assets by geographic area are based on physical location of those assets. The following table sets forth our long-lived assets by geographic area (in thousands):
