Segment Information

15. Segment Information

The Company operates and manages its business as one reportable segment and one operating segment, which is the business of discovering, developing and commercializing therapies derived from or incorporating its RNA-editing technology. The Company's chief operating decision maker ("CODM") is the chief executive officer.

The CODM assesses performance, monitors budget versus actual results, and decides how to allocate resources based on net loss that also is reported on the consolidated statements of operations and comprehensive loss. The CODM allocates resources based on the Company's available cash resources, forecasted cash flow, and expenditures on a consolidated basis, as well as an assessment of the probability of success of its research and development activities. Resource allocation decisions are informed by budgeted and forecasted expense information, along with actual expenses incurred to date. The accounting policies of the Company's single reportable segment are the same as those described in the summary of significant accounting policies. The level of disaggregation and amounts of significant segment expenses that are regularly provided to the CODM are the same as those presented in the consolidated statements of operations and comprehensive loss. Therefore, duplication of the Company’s consolidated statements of operations and comprehensive in this segment disclosure is not required.

The measure of segment assets is reported on the consolidated balance sheets as total consolidated assets. All long-lived assets are located in the United States. Long-lived assets primarily consist of property and equipment, net, operating lease right-of-use assets and long-term marketable securities.

Factors used in determining the reportable segment include the nature of the Company's operating activities, the organizational and reporting structure and the type of information reviewed by the CODM regularly to allocate resources and evaluate financial performance.

The Company does not have intra-entity sales or transfers.
