Comprehensive income includes net income and other comprehensive income (loss), which relates to changes in unrealized gains or losses of available-for-sale fixed-maturity securities carried at fair value and changes to any credit losses related to these investments. Reclassification adjustments related to the gains or losses recognized on sales of available-for-sale fixed-maturity securities are reflected in net realized investment gains (losses) on the consolidated statements of income.
