New Financial Accounting Pronouncements | Note 2. New Financial Accounting Pronouncements In December 2023, the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) issued ASU 2023-09, Income Taxes (Topic 740): Improvements to Income Tax Disclosures, which is intended to enhance the transparency and usefulness of income tax disclosures by providing incremental and disaggregated income tax disclosures pertaining to the effective tax rate reconciliation and income taxes paid by jurisdiction. This standard is effective for fiscal years beginning after December 15, 2024, with early adoption permitted, and allows for prospective or retrospective application upon adoption. We are currently assessing the impact ASU 2023-09 will have on our consolidated financial statements, although we expect that once adopted, this ASU will result in the additional required income tax disclosures being included within our annual consolidated financial statements. In November 2024, the FASB issued ASU 2024-03, Income Statement—Reporting Comprehensive Income—Expense Disaggregation Disclosures (Subtopic 220-40): Disaggregation of Income Statement Expenses, which is intended to provide more detailed and disaggregated information about significant expense categories, such as purchases of inventory, employee compensation, depreciation and amortization and selling expenses. This standard, including related updates, is effective for fiscal years beginning after December 15, 2026, and interim periods within fiscal years beginning after December 15, 2027. Early adoption is permitted, and the amendments may be applied either prospectively or retrospectively. We are currently assessing the impact ASU 2024-03 will have on our consolidated financial statements, including our footnote disclosures.
