Accounting Standards Update and Change in Accounting Principle [Abstract] | |
New accounting standards | New accounting standards The Company considered the applicability and impact of all Accounting Standards Updates ("ASU") issued by the Financial Accounting Standards Board ("FASB") to the Accounting Standards Codification. There were no new ASUs adopted during the six months ended June 30, 2025. See below for discussion of ASUs not yet adopted. ASU not yet adopted In November 2024, the FASB issued ASU 2024-03, Income Statement - Reporting Comprehensive Income - Expense Disaggregation Disclosures (Subtopic 220-40): Disaggregation of Income Statement Expenses, which requires additional disclosure about specific types of expenses included in the expense captions presented on the income statement. The amendments in this accounting standard are effective, on a prospective basis, for fiscal years beginning after December 15, 2026, and interim periods beginning after December 15, 2027. Early adoption is permitted. Adoption of this ASU is expected to result in additional disclosure, but will not impact the Company's consolidated financial position, results of operations or cash flows. In December 2023, the FASB issued ASU 2023-09, Income Taxes (Topic 740): Improvements to Income Tax Disclosures, which requires more detailed tax disclosures, including disaggregated information about an entity's effective tax rate reconciliation as well as expanded information on income taxes paid by jurisdiction. The amendments in this accounting standard are effective for fiscal years beginning after December 15, 2024, on a prospective basis. Early adoption is permitted. Adoption of this ASU is expected to result in additional disclosure, but will not impact the Company’s consolidated financial position, results of operations or cash flows.
