Segment Reporting [Abstract]
Segment Information and Geographic Data
13. Segment Information and Geographic Data
Operating segments are defined as components of an entity for which separate financial information is available and that is regularly reviewed by the Chief Operating Decision Maker (“CODM”) in deciding how to allocate resources to an individual segment and in assessing performance. The Company’s CODM is its Chief Executive Officer. The Company has determined that it operates in one operating segment and one reportable segment as the CODM reviews financial information presented on a consolidated basis for purposes of making operating decisions, allocating resources, and evaluating financial performance.
The key measure of segment profit or loss that the CODM uses to make operating decisions, allocate resources and evaluate financial performance is the Company’s consolidated net income, as reported in the Consolidated Statements of
Operations and Comprehensive Loss. Net income is used to plan and forecast for future periods, design and implement key marketing strategies, expand into new markets, and launch new products. Significant expense categories regularly provided to the CODM are those disclosed in the Consolidated Statements of Operations and Comprehensive Loss.
