The balance of goodwill is approximately $1.6 billion and $1.5 billion as of December 25, 2022 and June 26, 2022, respectively. As of December 25, 2022 and June 26, 2022, $62.0 million of the goodwill balance is tax deductible and the remaining balance is not tax deductible due to purchase accounting and applicable foreign law. The Company recognized $12.2 million and $19.5 million in intangible asset amortization expense during the three months ended December 25, 2022 and December 26, 2021, respectively. The Company recognized $23.8 million and $38.6 million in intangible asset amortization expense during the six months ended December 25, 2022 and December 26, 2021, respectively.
